HISTORY OF THE NUNLEY'S

This is a trace of the Nunley family starting from 1615 when the name was spelled Nonley. The spelling variations of our name include, Nonley, when our ancesters were in England,Nunlay, Nunnally, Nunnelly, Nunley. In 1812 the name was changed to Nunley with Greater Grandfather Allen Nunley. There was a Great Migration from Europe and most recordings started in the 17th Century. The Nunnally's that were migrants settled on the Eastern seaboard of Newfoundland Canada, and Maine. There were many that settled in Virginia, and the Carolina's and some on the Islands. From what I can trace our family bloodline started in York Town and Williamsburg Va. and ended up mostly in Charles City County Virginia in 1640. Everything that I post on this site about the Colonial Ancestor's I have either a census Report or Public record of land purchased, Military roster or even copy of original draft reregistration. If at anytime you would like a copy of anything I have I can e mail them to you.

MY THOUGHTS ON THE NUNLEY FAMILY
THE NUNLEY FAMILY HAS ALWAYS SEEMED TO TAKE PRIDE IN KEEPING FAMILY UNITY. UNFORTUNATELY,OVER THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS WE HAVE DRIFTED APART. MY HOPE IS TO BE ABLE TO BRING US BACK TOGETHER IN A DIFFERENT WAY. I DO HOPE EVERYONE WILL TAKE TIME TO REMEMBER THE ONES THAT HAVE GONE ON AHEAD OF US, AND HOLD THEIR MEMORIES IN A SPECIAL PLACE IN YOUR HEART. AS I TAKE MY MIND BACK IN TIME,I WANT TO JUST MENTION THAT WHEN ANY OF US WAS FACING TRIALS IN OUR LIFE, WHETHER IT BE DIVORCE, ACCIDENTS, SICKNESS, CHILDREARING, ETC. WE WOULD SEE THE LOVE AND SUPPORT AND SUGGESTIONS WE NEEDED TO GET THROUGH. I HAVE SEEN THE HOSPITAL WAITING ROOMS FULL OF FAMILY, WILLING TO BE SUPPORTIVE. THE FACT IS NO MATTER WHAT WE HAVE DONE IN OUR LIVES, WE NEVER STOPPED LOVING OR PRAYING FOR EACH OTHER.THERE WAS SOMEONE THERE FOR US PRAYING AND DOING WHAT THEY COULD TO HELP. THAT IS WHAT FAMILY UNITY IS ABOUT.
WE ARE A VERY TOUGH FAMILY AND MOST OF US HAVE OVERCOME ADVERSITIES THAT WE FACED. NO MATTER WHAT, OUR BLOOD IS BLOOD AND WE HAVE ALWAYS TRIED TO STAND TOGETHER AND LOVE UNCONDITIONAL.THERE HAVE BEEN MANY PRAYERS SENT TO GOD, IN FAITH BELIEVING AND ALL THOSE PRAYERS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED. MAYBE NOT THE WAY WE WANTED THEM TO BE ANSWERED, BUT WERE ANSWERED ACCORDING TO GOD'S PLAN FOR US.WE HAVE WITNESSED GOD'S GOOD GRACE TIME AFTER TIME. I FEEL THAT THE GOOD IS SO MUCH MORE COMFORTING TO REMEMBER THAN ANY OF THE BAD. IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT, WE HAVEN'T LOST THAT MANY IN DEATH, WE HAVE BEEN SO BLESSED AND I THANK GOD FOR EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU BECAUSE I LOVE MY FAMILY, EVEN THE ONES I HAVEN'T EVER SEEN IN PERSON YET.I HOPE YOU ENJOY TAKING A JOURNEY THROUGH OUR FAMILY AND MAKE SURE THE YOUNGER GENERATIONS ARE ABLE TO PASS THIS INFORMATION ABOUT OUR ANCESTORS ON FOR YEARS AND YEARS TO COME.

WITH ALL MY LOVE LISA SUSAN NUNLEY

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
